Rumors for Minnesota Twins

The Cleveland Indians have acquired Kevin Slowey from the Rockies in exchange for Zach Putnam and cash according to a tweet by Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports.

Slowey, 27, is a career 39-29 and a 4.66 ERA in 100 career appearances all for the Minnesota Twins. He was previously traded to the Rockies this off-season in exchange for RHP Daniel Turpen.

Putnam, 24, was 1-1 with a 6.14 ERA in 8 appearances last season. He also made his Major League debut last year.

Minnesota Twins sign Joel Zumaya

The Minnesota Twins have signed flame thrower bullpen arm Joel Zumaya, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. The deal will have a base salary of $800k and could be worth as much as $1.7mm based on all the incentives he could earn.

Zumaya who is known for his 100MPH fastballs hasn’t pitched 32 games or 40 innings in a season since his impressive rookie season of 2006 due to injuries.

Zumaya hasn’t pitched since 2010 where he posted a 2.58 era in 38 1/3 innings.

The Twins have signed starting pitcher Jason Marquis, to a one-year $3mm deal Scott Miller of CBSSports reports.

Marquis who started the year with the Nationals and was later traded to the Diamondbacks, made 23 starts while posting a 4.43 era, but finished the season on the DL with a fractured fibula.

The Mets and Marlins were also rumored to have interest in the right-hander.

In 11 seasons, Marquis has a career 4.55 era.

Although nothing appears imminent with Roy Oswalt, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says that the Boston Red Sox, Washington Nationals, Miami Marlins, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers and the Minnesota Twins have interest in the veteran pitcher.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed Jason Kubel to a two-year deal worth $15mm, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports. The deal also includes an option for a third year and is pending a physical.

Kubel is slated to take over left field duties, pushing Gerardo Parra into the fourth outfielder role.

The Rockies and Michael Cuddyer have reached a three-year, $31.5mm agreement, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.

The Rockies had exchanged various offers with Cuddyer, with the most recent one being for three-years at around $27mm (Troy Renck of the Denver Post provided this information). The All-Star had also received interest from the Phillies, Red Sox and the Twins.

The Minnesota Twins and Josh Willingham have agreed to a three-year, $21 million guaranteed deal, according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPNCrasnick adds that Willingham can make an additional $1 million in this third year if he surpasses 525 plate appearances in his second year.

The deal was first reported by Joe Christensen of Star Tribune reports.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Minnesota Twins and free agent outfielder Josh Willingham are close to a deal.

Jordan Bastian of MLB.com adds that the Indians are still a possible contender for Willingham, but there is no official deal on the table.
