Aroldis Chapman Rumors: Bidding to go up to $20 million

By Allan

Buster Olney of ESPN says that he  expects the bidding on the 6′4″ 21-year-old left-hander Aroldis Chapman to go to $20 million, but Olney believes that there is concern within the baseball community that Chapman may be a better reliever than starter.

Additionally, ESPN believes that the Florida Marlins have increased their offer to Chapman to possibly exceed the Boston Red Sox offer of $15.5 million made in December.

Chapman previously received formal offers from the Red Sox and the Florida Marlins ($13 million) last month, but did not sign.  Olney says that the Mets and Yankees are not in on the Chapman bidding, so if the $20 million rumor becomes truth it isn’t coming from New York.

Previous reports have indicated that the Baltimore Orioles and Oakland A’s have shown interest in the Cuban pitcher.
